Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded forcefully to President Donald Trump following his latest remarks on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The tension escalated after Trump held Ukraine accountable during a press briefing, sparking backlash from Kyiv.
Zelenskyy accused Trump of spreading “a lot of disinformation coming from Russia” during his statement from Mar-a-Lago, where the U.S. President suggested Ukraine had not made enough efforts to end the war.

“Unfortunately, President Trump, with all due respect for him as the leader of a nation that we respect greatly… is living in this disinformation bubble,” Zelenskyy stated.
The Russia-Ukraine war has drained U.S. taxpayers of billions of dollars, making it a high-priority issue for Washington. Trump, in his remarks, underscored the need for transparency and accountability in U.S. aid sent overseas. His statements were met with criticism from mainstream media, particularly CNN’s Jake Tapper, who appeared shocked by Trump’s stance.
“I think I have the power to end this war, and I think it’s going very well. But today I heard, well, we weren’t invited. Well, you’ve been there for three years. You should have ended it three years ago. You should have never started it. You could have made a deal,” Trump declared during the press conference.
Tapper reacted with sarcasm, stating, “Ukraine should never have started the invasion of Ukraine. That’s an interesting comment. President Trump also casting doubt on where all the U.S. military aid to Ukraine has gone.”
Trump further emphasized concerns over the distribution of U.S. aid, questioning why European nations have contributed significantly less than the United States.

“We have to equalize with Europe because Europe is giving a much smaller percentage. I think Europe has given 100 billion, and we’ve given, let’s say, 300 plus. And it’s more important for them than it is for us. We have an ocean in between and they don’t. But where is all the money that’s been given? Where is it going? And I’ve never seen an accounting of it,” Trump asserted.
As the 2024 election looms, foreign policy and military spending will remain pivotal issues in the political landscape, with Trump continuing to challenge the status quo on Ukraine aid and U.S. foreign commitments.
