Trump Demands Removal of ‘Distorted’ Portrait from Colorado State Capitol

Former President Donald Trump is calling for the immediate removal of his official portrait displayed at the Colorado State Capitol, accusing the artist and Democratic Governor Jared Polis of deliberately distorting his image.

Trump Calls Out ‘Purposefully Distorted’ Painting

In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump blasted the unflattering artwork, claiming it was created to tarnish his image.

“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before,” Trump wrote.

The former president also pointed out the stark contrast between his portrait and the one of former President Barack Obama, which he claimed was painted with much greater care and accuracy.

“The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one [of] me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older,” Trump added.

A Politically Motivated Portrait?

Trump’s supporters and conservative commentators argue that the artwork is yet another attempt by liberal officials to demean his legacy. The Colorado State Capitol houses portraits of all U.S. Presidents, but Trump’s is now at the center of a heated debate over artistic integrity and political bias.

Critics accuse Governor Polis and state officials of allowing the painting to be displayed despite its inaccurate depiction, while Trump’s allies are demanding an investigation into how it was approved.

Public Reactions and Artist’s Defense

The artist behind the controversial portrait has responded to Trump’s remarks, defending her work and denying any political agenda. She insists that her painting reflects her interpretation of Trump’s leadership and follows her usual artistic style.

Despite this defense, Trump’s supporters are calling for the portrait’s immediate removal, with many urging Republican leaders to intervene.

What’s Next?

As the controversy continues to escalate, it remains unclear whether state officials will replace the painting. Given Trump’s strong influence within the Republican Party and his dominant role in the 2024 and 2028 elections, this dispute could have political consequences beyond just an artwork on a wall.
